WHAT MATTERS SHOULD BE PAID ATTENTION TO WHEN USING GRAPHITE ELECTRODE IN ELECTRIC STEEL MILL

(1) Select the appropriate electrode variety and diameter according to the capacity of the electric furnace and the transformer capacity equipped.

(2) In the loading and unloading of graphite electrodes and storage process, pay attention to prevent damage and moisture, moisture electrode should be used after drying on the electric furnace side, and the connector hole and the surface thread of the connector should be protected when lifting.

(3) When connecting the electrode, compressed air should be used to blow off the dust in the joint hole, the force used when screwing the joint into the joint hole of the electrode should be smooth and uniform, and the tightening torque should meet the requirements. When the holder holds the electrode, be sure to avoid the joint area, that is, the part above or below the bottom of the electrode joint hole.

1 (2)

(4) When loading the charge into the electric furnace, in order to reduce the impact on the electrode when the charge falls, the bulk charge should be installed near the bottom of the electric furnace, and be careful not to make a large number of non-conductive materials such as lime gather directly below the electrode.

(5) The melting period is the most likely to produce electrode break, at this time the melting pool has just formed, the charge begins to slide down, the electrode is easy to be broken, so the operator should carefully observe, the lifting mechanism of the electrode should be sensitive, timely lifting electrode.

(6) During the refining period, such as the use of electrode carburization, the electrode immersed in the molten steel quickly becomes thin and easy to break or cause the joint to fall, resulting in an increase in electrode consumption, so as far as possible, no electrode immersed in the molten steel carburization and use other methods to carburize.
